Holy Moly, I Got an Award!

April 9, 2013

We interrupt the previously scheduled program of the A to Z Challenge to bring you this breaking news.  Dizzy Stir has been nominated for the Liebster Award. I know nothing about blogging awards, but I like hearing I’ve been nominated for one.

liebster-award1

From what I’ve read, a Liebster Award is an award for bloggers who have less than 200 followers and helps to highlight and promote new blogs.  It’s a pay-it-forward kind of thing. I’m definitely on board for that.

This particular Liebster Award is being given to those participating in the Blogging A to Z Challenge.  This challenge began on Monday, April 1st and runs through the end of the month. Each day participants post their way through the alphabet taking Sundays off for good behavior. To see all the fabulous bloggers participating in this challenge, click here.

To accept the nomination I have to fulfill these requirements:

  1. Post the award on my blog
  2. Thank the blogger who gave me the award and link back to their site
  3. Post 11 random facts about myself
  4. Answer 11 questions that the presenter of the award has asked
  5. Nominate 11 new bloggers with fewer than 200 followers that I want to pass the award on to
  6. Ask my nominees 11 questions of my own

So here goes:

Thank you so much to the blogger, Becs,  who nominated me. You made my day!

I’ve enjoyed her blog and think you should check it out.  You can find her at Tales from tedium.

Now, 11 random facts about me:

  1. If I could have any super power, it would be the ability to pause time.  I’d multiply my productivity exponentially!
  2. I hate when people steal my ideas before I think of them. It happens a lot.
  3. I’m not very good at coming up with random facts about myself.
  4. I hate the taste of beets. They taste like pickled dirt to me.
  5. I like the taste of pretty much everything else.
  6. I’ve been known to write silly poems.
  7. I hate zombie movies/TV shows/stories, but I got hooked on The Walking Dead.
  8. I’m probably just a few books away from being on an episode of Hoarders. I hope I have time to read them all some day.
  9. I have a little “Weird Al” in me. I sometimes change song lyrics to something silly or sarcastic.
  10. I’ve been bucked off a horse and drug around the corral because my foot got caught in the stirrup. And I lived.
  11. A random bullet once passed through the pillow I was sleeping on while traveling.  And I lived.

Now, to answer the 11 questions asked of me:

  1. If you had to pick a final meal, what would you choose? That’s a tough one. I love food. I’d probably ask for a buffet. 🙂
  2.  If you  could only have one book of fiction to read forever, which would it be? Wow, tough questions. Probably Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.
  3. Where do you most want to visit and why? I would like to take a long castle-jumping vacation and visit any/all castles of the world!
  4. What is the best thing about blogging? Hmm, I am pretty new at this blog thing. I guess I’d have to say the best thing, besides having a creative outlet, is the community of bloggers. But I’d have to include the non-blogging family and friends that read and comment on my blog.  The support and encouragement help me keep going.
  5. Why did you choose to take part in the A to Z challenge? I have a hard time saying no to a challenge. Ironically, I was thinking about shutting down the blog when I found the challenge. The challenge lit my fire again, I guess.
  6. Have you preplanned any posts, Q or X or Z perhaps? Nope. I found the challenge the day it started and I’ve been flying by the seat of my pants trying to get each day’s post done. A few have been late.  I’m hoping to get ahead soon, but we’ll see what happens.
  7. When did you last enjoy live music, who played? Oh, man. We haven’t gone to see a live music performance in so long, I can’t remember. So, I’d have to say my husband.  He’s a talented singer/songwriter/guitar player/musician.  I get to hear him a lot at home.
  8. Who influences you? I’d have to say everyone I come in contact with. I think we are all influenced one way or another by the people we encounter or interact with. Even when we purpose not to let a certain person influence us, they at least influenced us enough to make that decision.
  9. Which three words best describe you? Depends on who you ask. Since you asked me: BAD AT SELF-DESCRIPTION.
  10. What makes you happy? Perfection. Just kidding. Good relationships. Coffee. Being outdoors in a peaceful setting. (That one will probably surprise my husband.)
  11. How long did you take to choose your 11 nominations? Two hours, four minutes.

Now I must nominate 11 new bloggers with fewer than 200 followers that I want to pass the award on to. Here are my nominations:

  1. http://dingbatdigest.com/
  2. http://hiseyeisonthissparrow.com/
  3. http://nouveauscarecrow.wordpress.com/
  4. http://vftmom247.wordpress.com/
  5. http://writingreadingandlife.com/
  6. http://su-sieeemac.blogspot.com/
  7. http://sujataravi6.wordpress.com/
  8. http://emmyleigh.wordpress.com/
  9. http://www.oddparticle.com/
  10. http://joyinthemoments.wordpress.com/
  11. http://amcosgrove.wordpress.com/

To my Liebster Nominees, you are under no obligation to accept this award. However, it is an awesome opportunity for me to get to know you and you me.  If you decide to accept the award in it’s current format, Blogging from A to Z Challenge, here’s what you need do:

  1. Post the award on your blogs
  2. Thank the blogger(s) who gave you the award and link back to their site(s)
  3. Post 11 random facts about ourselves
  4. Answer 11 questions that the presenter of the award has asked
  5. Nominate 11 new bloggers with fewer than 200 followers that you want to pass the award on to
  6. Ask our nominees 11 questions

And the 11 questions are:

  1. How many hours a day do you spend writing?
  2. Who do you have to critique and/or edit your work?
  3. What is your guilty pleasure?
  4. Why did you start blogging?
  5. What is your most popular blog post?
  6. What do you want written on your tombstone?
  7. What are some of your favorite books to read? (I’m graciously not limiting this to one.)
  8. If you could have any one super-power, what would it be?
  9. If you could be invisible for a day, would you use your invisibility for evil or good?
  10. What would your “last supper” consist of?
  11. What is your biggest pet peeve?

Thank you again, to Becs over at Tales from tedium for this nomination. You rock!
