F is for Four

April 8, 2014

is for four places to visit in Nashville that start with F. I actually found more than that, but fourteen would take too long. 🙂

1. The Franklin Theatre is an old movie theater that has been restored in recent years.  It is located south of Nashville in Franklin, which is part of the Nashville Metroplex. The Franklin Theatre still plays movies, and has added a new dimension as well—live music.

2. There always seems to be some kind of festival going on in Nashville, often music related. I think Tim would love to go to a music festival. We aren’t sure when we will be going on vacation, so I narrowed my search to festivals in July. There are multiple festivals right off the bat in celebration of the Fourth of July. These festivals include the “Franklin on the 4th” festival in Historic Downtown Franklin and the “Music City Hot Chicken Festival” in East Nashville. Later in the month Historic Downtown Franklin will host the “Bluegrass on the Harpeth” festival.

3. Fort Nashborough is a historic reconstruction of the first Anglo settlement in Nashville. It’s a replica about one-third the size of the original settlement.  It’s free and open to the public. Some reviewers said it only takes about ten minutes to go through it.

4. The Fontanel Mansion is the former home of country superstar Barbara Mandrell. It is now open for tours and is the only home in the “Home of the Stars” tour in Nashville that you can actually go inside of.  The 27,000 square-foot mansion has over 20 rooms, 13 bathrooms, 5 fireplaces, 2 kitchens, an indoor pool and even an indoor shooting range.

I think all four of these would be fun to visit, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to tear Tim away from the music scene for this kind of stuff.

    It all sounds fun

    • Well, that was the plan. I was out of town for a writer’s conference this weekend, so that plan didn’t go very well. 😦 Hopefully I will be caught up and on track in the next couple of days.

  2. Tennessee was beautiful.
I hope you will be posting more letters soon.
